The installation, entitled Backstage, presents an interesting juxtaposition of materials and forms that invites us to reflect on the nature of art and its relationship to the physical world. The installation captures the viewer in a moment where painting is transformed into the form of an installation.On the one hand we have jute, a natural fiber that is coarse and unrefined and reminiscent of the organic materials from which all things in the physical world are ultimately derived. The jute is attached to the wall and thus creates a stable, fixed point in the room, which anchors the installation in the world of material objects.On the other hand, we have a picture frame that is a work of art in itself, carefully crafted to hold and display the picture. The subframe is placed inside the jute, creating a tension between the rough, natural material and the carefully crafted shape of the subframe. This tension emphasizes the interplay between nature and art, suggesting that they are not necessarily antagonistic, but rather exist in a complex and dynamic relationship.Together, the installation encourages us to think about the nature of art and its relationship to the physical world. It suggests that art is not a separate realm, separate from the material world, but rather closely related to it.
