I drew inspiration for the painting from the book by Ciril Kosmač-Pomladni dan. I was taken by a passage that reads: Our life is a gray sea on which the white sailboats of our happy moments sail, but without the gray sea, the white sailboats would not even be noticed. I used acrylic paints and a black felt-tip pen for the painting. In the picture we see white spots of happy moments surrounded by a gray sea. I didn't paint the white spots on purpose, because they are more associated with white sails. Different faces of suffering intertwine across the gray sea. The details also hide depictions of celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Hitler, Salvador Dali, Buddha, slovenian politic Janez Janša and also my self-portrait.
